The 2024 season of the Cigar Smoking World Championship (CSWC) prequalify round ttok place in spectacular fashion in central Italy, in the picturesque city of Pescara. Enthusiasts gathered in the stunning cigar lounge of Coffee & Cigarettes, a renowned cigar shop owned by Giovanni Iervese, who is not only a passionate smoker but also a participant in the event. The evening began with a friendly aperitivo featuring Pescara pizzas and exquisite wine, setting a convivial tone for the competition. As participants settled into their seats, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement and anticipation. Judge Alberto Mancinelli read the rules, and with the start of the Cuervo Y Sobrinos chronograph, the competition was officially underway.

In the initial minutes, several competitors faced challenges managing their cigars. Despite these difficulties, a significant portion of the group persevered. Among them was Marian Nedelea, the reigning Italian record holder of 2023, who quickly distinguished himself from the rest. As the competition progressed, Nedelea's cigar began to burn unevenly near the final 2 cm, posing a risk of burning the anilla. Demonstrating exceptional skill and control, he declared the end of his smoke with a remarkable time of 02:47:02, setting a new Italian record.Nedelea's incredible performance left the audience in awe and solidified his status as a top contender in the CSWC circuit. His ability to maintain composure and precision under pressure exemplified the true spirit of the competition.
