THAI QUALIFIER FOR CSWC THRIVES IN PHUKET
La Torcedora Hosts an International Gathering of Slow Smokers, with Competitors from Across Asia and Europe Competing for Top Honors
Turin Time Chase challangers in their first experience with CSWC competition
Last Saturday, the annual Thai qualifier for CSWC took place at La Torcedora
whisky and cigars on the beautiful island of Phuket.
Last year Valentine was not just the organizer but also the host, as the
competition took place in his lounge in Phuket Old Town, Churchill’s.This year, Valentine opted for another location. ‘besides our local competitors and the expats that join every year, we have competitors flying in from Malaysia and Indonesia. We needed a bigger venue so I asked Lawan from La Torcedora if she would be interested in hosting’.
Richard Valentine is a great host and organiser of the CSWC, and with help and support from the regional judges and organizers he created amazing holiday CSWC qualifier in beautiful Phuket. Next year I really plan to be there and to enjoy hospitality of this great man and his CSWC colleagues from the region- Marko Bilic, CSWC founder

Competitors in slow smoking experience - fun, excitement and competition spirit
With competitors from Indonesia, Malaysia, Denmark, Russia, The Netherlands
and Thailand, it was a true international competition. The Thai contingent even
brought competitors whom never smoked a cigar before and not without success.
One of them, O-Po, finished second before one of the Malaysian competitors Pak
Zul Idrus and after Mutia Chaniago from Caesar Cigars, a cigar lounge in Jakarta.
Both Zul and Mutia competed last week in Kuala Lumpur as well, where Mutia
was the runner up. In Phuket she took the crown of best slow smoker in Thailand.

Lawan Charoenwong said “it was a great event. Before Richard approached me, I
had never heard of the competition but I love it. When I saw the prizes, I wanted
to compete too but as the host I couldn’t. I had a lot of fun and can’t wait till next
year’s Thailand qualifier”. Mutia added that she expects at least half a dozen of
competitors from Indonesia to compete in Thailand next year.
The prizes consisted of a variety of items from competition sponsors Boveda, Les
Fines Lames, Elie Bleu and Rocky Patel.
All genrations of cigar aficionados wanted to be part of this incredible CSWC experience
